For the first time, researchers observed microplastic in newly fallen Antarctic ice
Scientists have found microplastics in freshly fallen Antarctic ice for the first time. "We collected ice samples from 19 sites in the Ross Island region of Antarctica and found microplastics in all of them," said University of Canterbury PhD student Alex Aves. 13 different types of plastic were found, with the most common being PET, which is mostly used in soft drink bottles.
