Afro said that staff checked back with the manga creator at nearly every stage of production, from script drafts and designs, as soon as possible. The producers noted that the characters are a bit old as well as a personal anticipation of seeing what Afro hasn't seen yet. Director Yoshiki Kyogoku thanked fans for their support in making the film, and once again joked about location-scouting and eating delicious camp food while making the anime.
The film is being distributed by Shochiku, which will open on July 1.
The anime adopts Afro's "slow-motion outdoor manga" that follows two young women. Rin prefers to go camping alone on the banks of the lakes that provide a beautiful view of Mount Fuji. Nadeshiko enjoys cycling alone in places where she can see Mount Fuji. After meeting, Rin and Nadeshiko take a camping trip, eat a cup of ramen together, and enjoy the scenery.
The first anime premiered in January 2018, and Crunchyroll streamed the 12-episode series as it aired. Room Camp (Heya Camp) short anime spinoff premiered in January 2020. The anime's second season premiered in January and ended in April. The cast and crew announced the film at an October 2018 event.
Afro launched the manga in 2015 in Haubunsha's manga Time Kirara Forward magazine. Yen Press began releasing the manga in English in March 2018.
The anime's first smartphone game is slated for iOS and Android devices this year. The anime has already inspired a good day for MAGES's Eurocamp! The game for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch last November. Gemdrops released Laid-Back Camp - Virtual - Lake Motosu (Eurukamp Virtual Camp Motosuko-hen) VR game in March 2021, and Laid-Back Camp - Virtual - Fumoto Campsite (Eurukamp Virtual Camp Fumoto Camp Jo-hen) VR game released did. on 8 April.
